How do you get a beach body? You take your body to the beach.

DWD = distinguished war daddy
YHC has been pining for Spring Break for some time now…the colder temps and the monotony of early sunsets doesn’t affect me the same way or to the magnitude that it does others, but I have been dreaming of sunnier evenings in the backyard for a little while. This week’s taste of warmer weather has been just what the doctor ordered, and with DST on the horizon I’m itching to spend more time in the garden and get things growing. I also know that many of you have upcoming trips to the beach planned, so I made sure to focus on the “show” muscles that grab your M’s attention once the shirt comes off and the sunscreen gets lathered on. With the sculptures of the Renaissance in mind, here’s how it went:
WoR: SSH x15, Hillbillies x15, Whirlies x15, Michael Phelps x10.
The thang: 4 stations, 3 exercises at each, with an arms x20, an abs x20, and a burpees x7 (because today is the 27th)
- Station 1: Between Publix and Mayberry. 20 merkins, 20 American hammers, 7 burpees
- Station 2: Outside Nawab. 20 Carolina dry docks, 20 WWIIs, 7 burpees
- Station 3: Outside Schiffman’s. 20 diamond merkins, 20 Freddie Mercs, 7 burpees
- Station 4: North corner of Publix, opposite station 1. 20 dips, 20 crunchy frogs, 7 burpees
All pax got in 4 complete rounds, sticking mostly together for the duration of the beatdown. That’s 112 burpees for the Rollbacks counting at home. Speaking of Rollback, he snuck in an extra 3 to end on a round number, and also did 140 burpees before the workout #machine. Spicoli and Bagpipe got there (airquotes) right on time (airquotes) and didn’t miss a beat as we started Station 1. Bagpipe was seen Cheesesteaking (aka modifying to make things harder) on a few exercises, including WWIIs to WWZs. I almost hit Pollster with my car on the exit ramp from 421 as he was crossing Stratford road on his run in…thankful that I have some trauma from learning to drive and can still hear my father sternly warning me to double and triple check for pedestrians. Greenspan was impressive with his RIRO and his attentive form all morning. Lamb Chop was easily persuaded to join in for the Iron Pax Challenge this year. Great 2nd F with this group today, as topics of conversation ranged from previous WIB workouts to the benefits of accountability to the appropriate and inappropriate ways to make jokes about inches to the prospects of future job searches to the best and most ethical ways to scam your friends.
Announcements: Greenspan has UA tomorrow and WIB next week. Rollback has TRQ next week. Bagpipe has Alcatraz Saturday and will be taking over as site Q at Iron Throne on 3/17. Q School will be before Purgatory on 3/29.
CoT: Prayers for Lambchop and his M for an upcoming ultrasound and a healthy child. Prayers for Bagpipe’s friend JC who is recovering from surgery and awaiting further test results from a cancer diagnosis. YHC took us out lifting these up, full of a thankful and joyful spirit.
Root Canal, you were missed this morning. I took the keys for myself without permission today but I promise to leave them right where found them.
