WELL, if at first you don’t succeed…. Guess we’ll try this again.
It was still April 1st, but a lot less gloomy at 6:30 (PM). It was my maiden voyage over to the only afternoon workout in DASH PAX land. High Life.
I had never posted at this AO before so why not Q it the first time? Sounds about right. I had planned on doing some reconnaissance work the day before, but spring time in NC can bring a little bit of everything. It was a monsoon that kept me from being able to check out the site before leading. Oh well.
Fired up Google Maps and, “What’s this? Miller Park has a running trail. 0.8 of a mile. Perfect!!” I had a very loose plan of a WIB style workout we could do.
Had to head home to change before going back to High Life.
Well, “the best laid plans of mice and men…”
Got a call from Bullwinkle telling me he planned on coming to the workout tonight, but “there’s not going to be a lot of running, right?” Bullwinkle was having hip surgery later this week and really wanted to come, but wouldn’t be able to run. GREAT! I hate running!!!
So a little improvisation was going to be required. Got it…
I had to swing by Parliament ( again ) to go pick up some blocks. We could stick to the original plan, sort of, and I felt we could still get in a solid butt whoopin’ of a workout.
The THANG:
Instead of running around the trail and doing the painstations listed, we could Rifle Carry blocks around the park and complete each painstation. The High Life site Q gave me a concerned kind of look. An almost, “are you crazy” kind of look. And off we went.
Again, having never posted here before, Brown Bag stuck close to the front with YHC to give proper directions. At about the point where our arms felt like they were going to fall off, that became the stopping point to do the exercises.
Station 1: 20 Merkins, 20, WWII’s, 20 Carolina Dry Docks, 20 Monkey Humpers.
Rifle Carry…………………………………………………
Station 2: 20 HR Merkins, 20 LBC’s, 20 Nolan Ryans, 20 Crunchy Frogs.
Rifle Carry…………………………………………………
Station 3: ( Would be the final station, as I believe we took a wrong turn and took the regular walking path vs. the trail. Q Fail ) Station 3 was both Stations 1-2 combined. OUCH
20 Merkins, 20, WWII’s, 20 Carolina Dry Docks, 20 Monkey Humpers, 20 HR Merkins, 20 LBC’s, 20 Nolan Ryans, 20 Crunchy Frogs.
Rifle Carry……………………………………………….back to the start.
We had a little time left and Spicoli had reminded me earlier that High Life has an AWeSOME playground area with some pull up bars. So we went over there and did a couple of rounds.
10 Pull ups, 10 Irkins, 10 Supine pullups
Back to the start for some quick……

Wow. What an awesome group of guys. Strong work tonight.
It was great meeting a few of you for the first time. Evenings are harder for me due to family commitments and some guys don’t like 05:30 am start times. All good.
This site. Get out here and post. Great spot and so many possibilities for a good beatdown.
There was a lot of great mumblechatter.
There may have even been a few giggles from the people passing by us, thinking ” what in the heck are those idiots doing carrying cinder blocks around this park?” I believe Spicoli and Rachael Ray were able to EH a passer by, so it’s all good.
Gentlemen, until next time. Cheers.

I kept on waiting for you to say April Fools and we’d return our blocks and do something less awful. Strong work and thanks for stepping up and getting out to High Life.
PS very thankful you were not joking about the bevvies afterwards! Glorious!
