An odd RNG

The Esteemed Pax: Hedwig (WB), RustBucket (WD), Uncle Rico, Sleeper, Burlap (QIC)
Route is here: http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/1972160048
Basically clockwise around Knollwood Baptist Church including Knollwood, Stratford, Westview, Reynolds, with quick stints on Roslyn, Warwick, Arbor and Country Club, and returning on Greenwich. Nice and flat with less than 100 feet in gain over just under 3.2 miles.
Weather was 36 and drizzly with a decent wind driving the wind chill down to about 30 >> my least favorite weather.
But, oddly, I kind of enjoyed the morning.
Tabata included rounds of Mountain Climbers/SSHs, then side squats/hillbillies, finishing with WWII sit-ups/low flutters.
Musical accompaniment was by Frank Sinatra:
- Three Coins in the Fountain
- Nancy (with the laughing face)
- Saturday Night is the Loneliest Night of the Week
- All Through the Day
COT
Prayers for a friend of Hedwig who is undergoing surgery to remove a lung; for Hedwig and Uncle Rico and other students finding out today whether they have matches for next year; for RustBucket and others on a hard ruck this weekend. YHC took us out mentioning the above and expressing thanks for the day, even the weather, and God’s great love for us.

This was an odd RNG due to
- We discussed that YHC would run slowly and the others agreed. And YHC did average only a 8:45 pace on a flat route, but everyone else chose to be slower, though at least a couple could have beaten the Q back to the parking lot.
- There was a 35 year difference between WB and WD.
- The RNG pax that used to faithfully run on Monday mornings were not there, either breaking something or staying in a warm, dry bed.
- YHC had worked with both Uncle Rico and Sleeper maybe once before last week. But I joined Sleeper at TRQ on Thursday and then again this morning. Also, Uncle Rico had not posted in a while.
- Aforementioned Uncle Rico was giving Hedwig a hard time for allowing the “Uncle Rico” name to be bestowed at his first post. He may have mentioned re-naming, at which time RustBucket may have correctly warned Uncle Rico about suggesting that.
- YHC had planned to do Raggedy Annes, but had only a few seconds to demonstrate on the tabata timer and did the Hillbilly instead, so we went with it.
- Sinatra was a little odd at Tabata, especially because the songs that Spotify chose were generally slow and not the jazzy, upbeat Sinatra songs.
- Sleeper may have had the line of the morning suggesting that YHC chose Sinatra because we all like the music that we listened to in our 20s. Ouch. Actually, my father who is 91 years old listened to Sinatra on the radio when he was in his 20s.
- And YHC admits that he saw Sinatra in concert at the old Charlotte Coliseum (the Hornets of the 80s). Frank was in his early 70s but could still bring it.
Good group of guys this morning — thanks for the opportunity to choose the route, the exercises, and the tunes.
Peace,
Burlap
