Forsyth Jail & Prison Ministry “Fun With Fathers”

The Forsyth Jail & Prison Ministry’s annual “Fun With Fathers” program is an event where inmates and their children get to spend a day together at Camp Hanes in King, NC. There they will engage in fun activities to build & strengthen their relationships. It is an amazing event that increases hope & love for inmates and their families. This year’s event takes place on Saturday, May 5th.
There are 3 ways to help:
- Volunteer the day of the event
- Sponsorship of an inmate and their child (financial donation)
- Provide material needs for the event

We hope to make this event a big success and with your help we will be sure to do so!
Volunteering:
We need male & female volunteers to help with the event.
Since the event is not held at the prison, anyone over 21 who would like to volunteer is able to do so. They will not need to complete a background form or have a community volunteer card. We are in need of quite a few more volunteers to make this event a success.
(The children will gather at Maple Springs Methodist church and then travel by bus to Camp Hanes. The inmates will leave by bus from the prison.)
7:30 – 9:00am at Maple Springs Methodist
4-5 female volunteers to help with registration
4-5 male volunteers to help with kids before leaving for Camp Hanes
8:00am – 4:00pm at Camp Hanes (gather at Maple Springs Methodist and ride bus to Camp Hanes)
10 female & 10 male volunteers to help during the bus rides and at Camp Hanes
4:00 – 5:00pm at Maple Springs Methodist
5-6 people to help sign out kids at the end of the day
Sponsorship (financial):
If you would like to make a donation to sponsor an inmate and their children, you can do so on the FJPM website (select “Fun With Father” in the How should we designate your gift? dropdown). For reference, a gift of $150 covers camp costs, travel, book bag, supplies, and food for an inmate & their child.
Material Needs for Fun with Father program (April 23 Drop off deadline):
We are also asking for school supplies (see below) that we will hand out to the children at the end of the day. Although it is the end of the school year, many kids can use the supplies to finish out the year.
- 20 Backpacks
- 100 Glue Sticks
- 50 Pairs of children’s scissors
- 50 Packs of paper
- 50 Notebooks
- 25 Packs of crayons
- 45 Packs of markers
- 25 Packs of colored pencils
- 35 Packs of #2 pencils
Miscellaneous items that can be bought are: Small bibles, Christian related books, necklaces, bracelets, bookmarks, activity books.
**All items should be new and unused.
