HC gratefully responded to a Valdez invitation to pick up the keys today at Redline.  Our activities went something like this:

The Thang:

Clockwise warmup lap around the park, regrouping at Joymongers (not part of the Baron’s land holdings).  Pax were informed that “we have some hills to climb.”

  • Run hard up Pilot View to Summit, mosey back down, pick up the six.
  • Run hard up Brookstown to Summit, mosey back down, pick up the six.
  • Run hard up the Intimidator to Summit, mosey back down, pick up the six.

Pax were instructed to remember what order they completed the mosey back down the Intimidator.  Based on order of completion:

  • Partner A runs hard up Intimidator, left on Carolina, left on Brookstown, left on West End.
  • Partner B runs hard down West End, right and up Brookstown, right on Carolina, right on the Intimidator.

When the two partners meet, high-five one another and mosey pace until you meet again and repeat.

We completed ~4-7 rounds of this nonsense and regathered for Thistle-style Tabata in the courtyard of:

  • Dips x 20
  • Penguin crunch x 10
  • Airborne Penguin crunch x 10

Mosey right on West End, right on Glade, right on Sunset, back to the parking lot.

Mileage ~ 4.5 miles; Elevation gain ~ 400 feet

 

Announcements:

  • Schmedfest 2019, August 24. Plunger is meeting with vendors and bands today.  On the less positive side, he’s also having discussions with FiA about a combined workout.
  • Wednesday F3 Happy (Four) Hour(s) at Fiddlin’ Fish from 4 pm to 9 pm. Thanks to Hoptoberfest for organizing.

 

Prayer Requests: 

Keith Vest, BooBoo’s brother-in-law, continues to undergo treatment for cancer.

 

The Ansley family from Salem Pres whose youngest son had a cyst removed Monday.

 

YHC took out us out with thanks for bodies that work & heal and petitions for those who are suffering physically, mentally, and spiritually.  May the great Healer meet us in our need.

Great group this morning that persevered and encouraged one another throughout.  We stayed together throughout.

 

Things heard during the beatdown:

 

  • Pax A: “Joymongers is closed!”  Pax B:  “I didn’t think that stopped you.”
  • Upon YHC announcing that we would be climbing hills: Numerous unrepeatables.
  • Pax A: “I should just take a turn here [onto a flat side street].”  Pax B:  “You wouldn’t feel good about yourself if you did that.”  Pax A:  “I would right now.”
  • Peacemaker: “Why, Greenspan?” upon passing one another on Pilot View.
  • Zima: “I run faster uphill than I do downhill!”
  • One pax to another: “You continue to impress me.”
  • On the partner work: “How long are we going to keep doing this?”
  • Q: “Can I get a 10-count?”  Zima:  “There’s your first good idea of the day.”
  • Palin to Zima: “I love your hair.  You have the best hair.”  Other pax:  “Except Bevo.”  *Nodding agreement from all others in attendance.

Thanks for the keys, Valdez!  They are at the intersection of 4th and Summit.
