(Not So) Memorable Post-Memorial Day Redline

Sixteen (16) pax attempted to shake off the effects of a hot, three-day Memorial Day weekend.  The Q came up with a plan that would allow the Pax to challenge themselves, if they wanted, but allowed each Pax to set his own pace — within some guidelines.

The THANG

Mosey from parking lot to once around track at a truly conversational pace.  Once more around the track and over creek to the nice entrance at a 10K pace.  Easy jog up the Intimidator (Clover) for one block.  At corner of Clover and Carolina, the Q explained the “architecture” of the next few laps.

We used this framework for the following laps in hilly West End:

• Carolina to left on Brookstown to left on West End Blvd to left on Clover back up to Carolina (pick up six, jog up to Jersey)
• Jersey to left on Brookstown to left on Carolina to left on Clover back up to Jersey (pick up six, job up to 5th and Glade)
• 5th St to left on Brookstown to left on Jersey to left on Clover back up to 5th & Glade (pick up six)

Mosey down to park entrance.

Use same architecture as you run clockwise around park.  Remember your finish order.

When we returned, we lined ourselves up quickly on the steps by finish order and teamed up 1 and 16, 2 and 15, etc. to 8 and 9, forming eight (8) teams of two.  We then moved to the track for a two-man 800 meter relay race — one lap per person.

Finished with one more cool-down lap at conversational pace and back to parking lot.

• No major announcements given, but YHC will add one here:  Lunch Bunch on Friday, May 31 at Camel City BBQ at 11:45.
• Prayers for Peacemaker and his M as she undergoes surgery today at 2:30 pm.
• Prayers for Plunger and his father as Plunger’s Dad has triple bypass and a valve replacement this Thursday.
• Prayers for the Bramblett family and all of the Auburn University family in the loss of Rod and Paula in an auto accident.  We don’t know the definitive cause but a good reminder to put our phones down when driving.
• YHC took us out.

NMM

• Sadly, YHC remembers very little from this workout, thus the title of this backblast.  This may be attributed to YHC’s lack of attention, the Pax’s lack of personality, or the fact that the Q was bringing up the rear so much and was rarely running with anyone.
• But one thing YHC DOES remember — The Vig.  That’s right, The Vig.  No, his name is not in the pax list above.  He didn’t post, even though he lives approximately 500 meters from the start.  He did have the audacity to walk calmly around the park with his cute little water bottle and to say “hello” as the pax ran past him.  He offered no excuses, no explanations.  He just didn’t post to #Redline even though he knew YHC was on Q.  In fact, maybe because he knew that YHC had the Q, The Vig decided to pass and then take a leisurely stroll around the park.
• There are two types of persons in the Twitterverse — one either sides with Team Baron Von West End or Team AmericasGuest.  Historically, YHC has sided with the Baron because of that sick affection for Duke that Ramses has — oh, and he never posts to F3 bootcamps.
• But due to this slight, this insult, this impertinence, this ignominy, this indignity and outright disrespect, I am moving over to Team AmericasGuest.  Yes, Ramses dunks on The Vig regularly, both in real life and on Twitter.
• Oh, I think Lysol and Little Piggy won a very competitive 800 relay.
