Ready for your first workout?
We are glad to know you’re interested in joining us! There is a lot of information to go over, but to avoid overwhelming you here are a few ways to know what’s going on in F3 Winston-Salem. First and foremost, checkout the workouts page and decide which workout will be your first.
It’s important to remember, we do not show up at F3 for ourselves. We show up for the man standing beside each of us. Here is a quote from the Founder of F3, Dredd:
“Here is one undeniable truth that I know about each of us, we need authentic relationships with other men who are working to be strong fathers, husbands, and leaders. Isolation will destroy a man! We have the opportunity to change our community and the trajectory of our families. Getting in the best shape of your life is just a by product. The work out is the magnet, the relations and community with other men will keep bringing you back. Lock shields with us and help us accomplish F3’s mission to invigorate male leadership in our community”
TIPS FOR YOUR FIRST WORKOUT
Once you’ve selected your first workout, here are seven tips to help you feel ready:

Most F3 AOs are bootcamp style workouts which include a mix of body weight exercises and running. Additional workout types include running, rucking, and dumbbells. The workout type is listed in the description of each workout location.

When you are first starting, it is important to remember to MODIFY as needed during the beatdowns. If you want to go harder – go harder. If you have not exercised in a long time, slow down. Don’t hurt yourself or even worse, get discouraged. Just show up, work hard, and give it your best. That is all that matters. We are not here competing against one another. We are freaking proud of you for showing up at 5:30 in the morning to exercise!

Check out the Lexicon. We have a nickname for everything you do. The Lexicon will give you a definition behind our secret language.

All you need to bring is an open mind and a positive attitude. Wear your regular outdoor workout clothes, and unless you have farmer hands, consider bringing a pair of gloves.

Our mantra is, “Leave no man behind, but leave no man where we find him.” If you are not meeting a friend at your first post, simply show up and introduce yourself as an FNG. You’ll be welcomed.
WHAT’S NEXT?
You got past our favorite excuses and posted for your first workout? Rockstar!
Now that the hard part is done, the next thing to do is get connected to the group. Have a fellow PAX from F3 Winston-Salem (preferably after CoT from your first post) connect you to our slack channel, where most of our internal comms take place. You can also email us or submit from the form below, providing your contact information, and we’ll hook you up with the the link to join (it’s private, otherwise we’d post it right here for you)! It is VITAL to stay connected, F3 is more than just a workout after all…
After you are “in,” find your next workout. Some guys post once a month, others six times a week. Do what works best for your schedule and lifestyle, but don’t be surprised when you end up posting more than you originally thought you would!
Lastly, F3 is what we make it. Once you have come out a few times, ask about Q school and get ready to lead your first workout! Look at previous backblasts for inspiration, and the aforementioned Lexicon; just don’t be afraid to bring your own style, flavor, and preferences when you lead.
